Meet the Club Cards team
Paul Medhurst
A proud Western Australian currently residing on the East Coast, Paul co-owns a float therapy centre with a mate from back home.
Paul fulfilled a lifelong dream to play 168 games of AFL football for the Fremantle Dockers & the Collingwood Magpies. He was known for takings speccies and kicking goals, especially in 2008 when he won All-Australian selection and an Anzac Day medal.
On being a founder of Club Cards, Paul says: “The idea came to us on the back of another founder, Rif, producing cards for our sons’ under 9’s footy team. The joy on the faces of the players and their parents as they opened their pack of cards was immense. We want to create more of these moments”.
Andrew Browne
Andrew is a former AFL footballer, having played 29 games for the Fremantle Dockers between 2002 and 2009. Andrew spent the remainder of his playing career at Claremont where he captained the club to a WAFL premiership.
Since his playing days, Andrew has coached at both WAFL level and amateur level. He has also worked in the legal industry for many years.
On being a founder of Club Cards, Andrew says “As a kid, I collected basketball cards and I used to love taking my collection to school and trading cards with friends. I remember getting a real kick out of seeing myself on a playing card back in my AFL days. I love that Club Cards gives players of all sports and all levels that same opportunity”
Rif Ahmet
Rif is a qualified electrician and business owner of the past 24 years.
With an avid interest and love for photography, he found his passion in the sporting arena whilst trying to capture the perfect shot of his children playing domestic sport.
The idea of producing quality player cards, came about when his 8 year old Son, also a very keen collector of trading cards, asked if it was possible to make him his own player card, utilizing the photos captured during his Under 9’s footy season.
Rif says of the experience “Its was one of the most rewarding projects I’d ever undertaken. To literally watch 8 year old children come to life on a professional trading card, as I was constructing them, was an amazing experience. Too see the children’s and parents faces open their cards and see themselves in that capacity for the first time, was certainly one I will never forget. My goal whilst producing each card was to make surethat every child felt like a superstar when they saw their card for the first time”.
Stuart Darcy
After having extensive sporting club experience over the last 40 years in Baseball, representing Victoria and Australia as a player, Stuart has also performed in the roles of Coach, Parent, Groundskeeper, Committee Member and Director of Coaching. Stuart is passionate in his support of amateur sporting clubs and is excited for the opportunity through Club Cards to contribute to sporting clubs all over Australia.
Stuart also has a longtime passion and insight for trading cards having been collecting for over 35 years as well as working within the industry.
“To be able to combine my love of the hobby of card collecting together with my passion for amateur sport and also give something back to sporting clubs who gave me so much over the years, is a dream becoming reality.”
“In all the years of my collecting the cards of professional athletes I could only dream of the opportunity to see myself on a trading card. Until recently, having your photo on a trading card was only ever going to happen for the 0.1% of amateur athletes who become professionals. Through Club Cards we can now make that dream a reality for so many amateur sports people. Every player can now have the thrill of seeing themselves, or their loved ones’, sporting history captured in a trading card.”
